Only one week remains in the 2019 NFL season, but the favorite to win the Super Bowl has already been decided.

If you’re betting on Super Bowl 54 futures, the Baltimore Ravens will get the most action at any online sportsbook after the regular season ends, entering the 2020 NFL Playoffs as the clear odds-on favorite to lift the Lombardi Trophy in February.

At +225 odds, the Ravens slipped just a little from their pre-Week 16 chances of +210 odds but overall, still have a sizeable gap between them and the next highest team.

The Ravens have a 13-2 overall record and have locked in the No.1 seed on the AFC side of the playoffs. Lamar Jackson, the lock for NFL MVP, and a majority of starters will not suit up for the final game.

However, most of the seeding for the playoffs is still up for grabs, especially in the NFC West. The San Fransisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks could finish as high as a No.1 seed or as low as a No.5 seed, depending on the outcome of their Sunday Night Football matchup.

Only 12 out of the remaining 15 teams will qualify for the playoffs and ultimately keep their hopes of winning it all alive.

The Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, and Dallas Cowboys are all in a win-or-go-home scenario, so use caution when picking any of these teams because their Super Bowl odds might be removed entirely if they lose this week.

Along with the latest legal Super Bowl LIV betting odds prior to the Week 17 games, we’ve included numerous other playoff prop bets and odds to based on conference and division.

It looks like most bettors will be backing Brady’s bunch on Super Bowl
Sunday.

After the Los Angeles Rams opened as a 1-point favorite for the Super Bowl LIII point spread, the betting line swung by 3.5 points for the New England Patriots within a couple hours, making them a 2.5-point favorite—a margin they’ve now held for a week and a half.

The money line also now favors the Patriots, who now need a $138 bet to
win $100 if they take home the Lombardi Trophy outright, while the Rams only
need $100 to win $118.

The initial over/under of 58 total points has seen betting action lower
it slightly to 56.5 but is currently receiving an even amount of wagers.

Here is the current Super Bowl LIII point spread, money line, and
over/under via BetOnline.

Current
Super Bowl LIII Betting Line

Point Spread: Patriots -2.5, Rams +2.5

Money Line: Patriots -138, Rams +118

Total Points: Over/Under 56.5

In an interview with Forbes this week, Dave Mason from BetOnline said while most bettors will be rooting for Tom Brady and the Patriots, the majority of sportsbooks around the world will be pulling for Jared Goff and the Rams to win Super Bowl LIII

“We will be massive Rams fans on Super Bowl Sunday both straight
up and ATS,” said Mason. “79% of the bettors are on the Pats -2.5 and 58% are
on Pats to win outright. When it comes to the over/under, our bet count is
split 50/50.”

When the Super Bowl comes around each year, sportsbooks offer hundreds
of different types of prop bets and put odds on commercials, the halftime show,
players, the game itself, and countless others.

Mason offered some insight on which props are receiving the most action
for Super Bowl LIII, and this year, Gladys Knight aka “The Empress of Soul”
takes the top spot with a prop bet on the over/under 1 minute 50 seconds for
the length of her rendition of the National Anthem.

“The National Anthem is the prop getting the highest bet count, with
action split 50/50 on the over/under,” said Mason.

The coin toss is as popular as ever and this year, it seems as though
most bettors believe “tails always fails.” Additionally, the possibility of the
Super Bowl going to overtime or having a safety scored makes Mason a bit
nervous—even if both are unlikely to happen.

“The game going to OT is going to be its annual sweat with 95% of
bettors on Yes,” said Mason. “The same can be said for a Safety with 96% on
Yes. Both opened at +850 and have been bet down to +800.”

He added: “As always, the coin toss is getting a ton of bets, with
55% of bettors on Heads,” said Mason.

Here are the current Super Bowl odds for the most popular Super Bowl LIII prop bets at BetOnline, according to Mason.

Most Popular Prop Bets for Super Bowl LIII

Length of National Anthem by
Gladys Knight

Over 1 Minute 50 seconds -120

Under 1 Minute 50 seconds -120

Coin Toss Result

Heads -105

Tails -105

Will the game go to Overtime?

Yes +800

No -1250

Will the game feature a
Safety?

Yes +700

No -1000

With only a few days left before Super Bowl Sunday, the clock is
ticking if you want to bet on the final NFL game of the season.

Super Bowl LIII featuring the Rams and Patriots will be held on Sunday,
Feb. 3, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
The post 2019 Super Bowl Odds Update: Rams-Patriots Betting Line, Prop Bet Action first appeared on Legal Super Bowl Betting.

Ever since the 2019 Super Bowl LIII matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots became official last Sunday, the biggest betting season of the year—which will feature hundreds of odds for prop bets—in the United States has been underway and will continue over next two weeks leading up to the game on Sunday, February 3rd.

And if it were left up to the National Football League, then you
wouldn’t see a single Super Bowl bet placed on an individual player since it
would be illegal to bet money on player props.

Proposition bets – or “prop bets” – are wagers on things not related to
the outcome of a game, including the likelihood of something game-related
happening (having a punt blocked, for example), occurrences outside the game
(an over/under on length of Gladys Knight’s national anthem at Super bowl
LIII), and both team and player performance (like how many passing yards by Tom
Brady).

That last one, betting on the performance of a player, is where the NFL wants to institute a ban. This week, an NFL spokesperson told the Associated Press the league has not changed its position on wanting to ban all wagering that involves player performance.

The league made its initial stance on player props known on September 27, 2018, when NFL Executive Vice President Jocelyn Moore testified before a U.S. House of Representatives committee.

“Examples might range from the number of passing yards by a
quarterback in a football game or the number of points or rebounds by a team
during a quarter of a basketball game, to the number of ‘throw-ins’ in a soccer
match, or even how many flags a referee might throw in a contest,” Moore
said. “These types of bets are significantly more susceptible to
match-fixing efforts, and are therefore a
source of concern to sports leagues, individual teams, and the athletes who
compete.

She then proceeded to ask Congress to allow all professional sports
leagues and gambling regulators to ban prop betting on player performance.

“To address concerns regarding risky betting fixtures,” Moore
said. “We encourage Congress to allow professional and amateur sports
organizations to identify which types of bets simply pose too significant a
risk to the integrity of sports and to work with regulators not to authorize
them.”

William Hill U.S. CEO Joe Asher, who is the British bookmaker’s head of
its American branch of sportsbooks, said the NFL is essentially encouraging
people to turn the game off once it’s decided – even for the Super Bowl.

“Prop betting on the Super Bowl is quite popular and keeps people engaged throughout the game, even if it’s a blowout,” he said. “We’ve never seen evidence of a player prop being manipulated.”

Sportsbooks typically have limits on the amount a person can bet as a
safeguard against players or referees trying to make a huge profit. In fact,
Asher said William Hill restricts player props to between $500 and $1,000,

This is a drop in the swimming pool for players making millions of
dollars per year. And on the flip side, it’s even somewhat negligible for NFL
practice squad player, who makes the minimum salary of $7,200 per week from
Week 1 through Week 17 and would risk losing a $122,400 per year salary, which
is why fixing any personal performance never happens and would likely would be
apparent if it did.

Not to mention that the Super Bowl is the only time player props
receive any attention and the likelihood that a player bets on or against
themselves during the biggest NFL game of the year is astronomically low.

“We’ve been doing this for many years, and this issue is way
overblown,” Asher said. “With the exception of the Super Bowl, player
props are a tiny portion of the business — a fingernail on the world’s biggest
man.”

And now we wait to see if a sportsbook puts out prop bet odds on
whether NFL player props will be banned next season.

If that comes out, then definitely bet on the “No.”
The post NFL Wants to Ban Player Prop Bets Despite Only Popular for Super Bowl first appeared on Legal Super Bowl Betting.
