Betting On The 49ers vs. Eagles: Who Is The Top Team In The NFC?

The Philadelphia Eagles are 10-1 and leading the NFC East division by two games over the Dallas Cowboys. Philly is the defending NFC Champions, but they weren’t able to best the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.

The San Francisco 49ers have been knocking on the door of a Lombardi for a few seasons now. In three of the last four years, they have either lost the NFC Championship Game or the Super Bowl.

Week 13 features a matchup of these two championship-caliber franchises, with NFC supremacy on the line. If Philadelphia wins, they will almost assuredly become the number-one seed in the NFC at season’s end.

If the San Francisco 49ers win, they re-enter the conversation to become the top seed in the National Football Conference but they’ll still have some work to do.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Philadelphia Eagles Betting Line

  • 49ers Point Spread: -3.0
  • 49ers Moneline Odds: -165
  • Eagles Point Spread: +3.0
  • Eagles Moneyline Odds: +140
  • Over-Under Total: 48.0

Although the game is taking place on the East Coast at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. this Sunday. The 49ers are road favorites, with point spreads granting them a three-point margin.

Anyone betting on the Eagles this weekend to cover needs them to lose by two or fewer points in order to collect a payout. It may seem strange for a 10-1 team to be an underdog at home, but San Francisco is healthy again and back to routinely blowing out teams.

In their last three games, the 49ers have beaten the Seahawks 31-13, the Buccaneers 27-14, and the Jaguars 34-3.

What’s peculiar about the current NFC and Super Bowl futures is that they seem to disagree with one another. The Eagles are the betting favorite to win the NFC Championship but the 49ers are the top team in the odds to win SB LVIII.

Super Bowl 58 Odds

  • San Francisco 49ers +375
  • Kansas City Chiefs +450
  • Philadelphia Eagles +450
  • Baltimore Ravens +700
  • Miami Dolphins +850
  • Dallas Cowboys +900

NFC Championship Odds To Win

  • Philadelphia Eagles +190
  • San Francisco 49ers +195
  • Dallas Cowboys +375
  • Detroit Lions +650

The Eagles hold a five-point lead in the odds to win the NFC, but are behind the 49ers by 75 points in the 2024 SB futures. Naturally, you cannot make it to the big game without winning your conference, so what gives?

The two lines are offering probabilities on two different occurrences. The odds are created by bookmakers without consideration for what the other line suggests.

What we can cull from these projections is that the Eagles and 49ers have a nearly equal chance of winning the NFC and reaching the Super Bowl. What they are also indicating is that if San Francisco makes it to SB 58, they have a much greater chance of beating the AFC Champion than Philadelphia holds.

Whether you want to bet on the 49ers or the Eagles to win the NFC or the Super Bowl, the time to do it is now. The winner of the game’s futures will sink closer to even after Sunday’s results and will deliver lower payouts.
